BIBLE STUDY TIPS
As I'm new with my walk in Christ, these are my beginner tips:

I study daily. For my personal study, I use 2 physical Bibles at a minimum to cross reference. Use two different versions, as one may interpret a better understanding for you, than the other.
My Study Bibles: NIV Life Application Study Bible and KJV Study Bible.
Online Bible: www.Biblehub.com
Minimum list of supplies: Notebook, pens, pencils, highlighters, sticky note pads
“Know Your Bible” by Paul Kent and Value Books (www.christianbook.com)

STUDY PROCESS:
-
Prayer: Especially, to open my spiritual eyes and ears, to receive revelation and knowledge of the Word, God wants me to receive for this study of the day. Also, to bring me closer to Him, in a personal and intimate relationship.
-
Trivia Question: I pull a card out of the stack of Bible trivia challenge cards, I ordered online. I would answer the question or learn the answer (included on the back of the card.) and put back in the deck, re-shuffle, and re-pull another card the next day, until I knew all the answers. Then order a new stack of cards. Or you may use an online Bible trivia app/game. It’s free and more convenient. I just like the old school way during my study time. When I’m out somewhere, I’ll play the game for fun.
-
Recite the 66 books of the Bible: When I didn’t know them, I would recite a few at a time, every day. Once I memorized them, I would move to the next few… until I knew them all. Now, I recite them all before my study, to keep it refreshed in my mind.
-
“Know Your Bible”: If I’m starting a book in the Bible, I read Know Your Bible, to get an overall summary of what to expect in the current book I’m about to start reading. If the book in the Bible is long, with lots of chapters, occasionally I would read the Know Your Bible, to remind myself, as I’m going along.
-
Read a minimum of 1 chapter in both study Bibles and cross reference. If it’s a long chapter, I read a set amount of verses at a time. Highlight anything that speaks to me. Write anything that moves my spirit, in my Bible or notebook.
-
Re-read the chapter next day… only if I didn’t quite understand the first time. Sometimes I may have to re-read a few times before moving on. SN: It took me almost 3 months to finish the book of John… remember I am new in Christ and needed more time to comprehend. I also spent lots of time going down rabbit holes while researching what I didn’t know. The more knowledge I could find out, the better. I also re-read my notebook notes from the day before… before I start the new day of notes. Just to remind myself and to see how it transitions into the new day of reading text.
-
Answer my daily questions:
a. What did I just read? (my personal summary)
b. What did I learn? (usually everything lol)
c. What stood out to me the most? And why?
d. What is God’s character in this?
e. How can I apply this message to my life?
-
Talk to God about any questions, concerns, petitions. Give quiet time to reflect with God.
-
Pray out: First, thank God for allowing me to be in His presence and in fellowship with Him. Then ask Him to help me remember what I read and learned, to be able to apply it to my life in my Christian walk. Last, if there is any way, I am not walking in righteousness, reveal it to me so I can repent and have the insight to make the necessary changes.
-
Bible study concluded.
You may add in worship music in the beginning, or in prayer, give praises or repent and ask for forgiveness, etc. I do these things at designated times throughout my day, so they’re not included in my study time, unless I’m feeling some type of way that day. But feel free to do what works for you.
Most days, I set the tone of my place of study, with a candle and coffee (mornings) or tea (nights). And I must must must wear some fuzzy socks and a fleece throw. They give me warmth to my body, soul, and spirit. Some days, I may just sit still and meditate, to hear God or the Holy Spirit speak to me (you can and will discern between the two once you have that personal relationship with Him) or I’ll switch up the place from time to time, so it won’t seem so mundane.
HAPPY STUDYING!
